Yep.

I couldn't say it better if I tried.

Thank you, Vincent. Your 'Starry Night' gets me every time....

love,

(And to YOU I ask: how would you fill in this quote? "I sometimes think there is nothing so delightful as _____.")

The Magic of Mail

The folks at Punchbowl (who supply the info for my Let's Party! blog widget) tell us that today is 'Thank a Mailman Day,' and you can read all about it by opening this link or scrolling down the righthand side of this blogpage.

Learning about 'Thank a Mailman Day' today made my heart do a little wiggle. Because I seriously love mail. Love it! Even the typewritten word gives me palpitations; it suggests handwritten secrets and sparkles and surprises. :)

Ever since I was little, mail has mesmerized me. I realized its awesome potential even before I could write my own name....

Fairypost

There it is. Over there. Rolled up in that typewriter, unfinished. Closed up in that spiral notebook. Waiting in that sketchpad.

Or perhaps it's still in that fountain pen or that stub of a pencil. Or maybe even still in that room in your imagination.

And it's calling to you, isn't it? "Those dishes can wait... that rug is fine.... Come play!"

And you want to. Anyone would.

But there are things that can't wait. Responsibilities that are more than just dishes that need washing and a rug that needs vacuuming.

Those words over there understand. They really do. So does that half-finished drawing, with its twinkly eyes and shy smile. They're just children. And they want All You all the time!

And you remember how hard it is to wait, right? But it makes the reunion that much sweeter.

And just think of all the stuff you'll share then!

Fairypost

Don't know about you, but I needed to hear this today....
I know that feeling. You're overwhelmed, aren't you? A little panicked.

That thing you're working on, that project you're knee-deep in, that idea that you're trying to flesh out -- it's like you're just spinning your wheels, right?....

Y'know why? Because you feel rushed. You're watching Time put one foot in front of the other, and there you are: standing still. Unable to move. Or perhaps running around in circles. Or maybe even darting down one path, changing your mind, retracing your steps, and taking off down another.

And all that panicking is making you doubt yourself.  (Not to mention it's giving me hives....)

Well hang on a second.

You can DO this; you know you can! You've done it before in spades. And pink hearts and green clovers and yellow moons and blue stars. You're a creative rock star, don't forget!

But I can hear you now: "If I just had a Magick Wand That Really Works I'd make Time stop long enough for me to do what I dream...."

Well, just an FYI: you do have a Magick Wand That Really Works. But until you start believing that, I'll jump in here and use mine for the moment, 'k?

*swish -- poof!*

There. You're now operating in MY time. There's always enough here. Things might look the same where you are with their 24 hours, but trust me. Time's kicking back right now and taking a big old break.

So have fun. And relax already! It'll get done and be absolutely golden.

Trust me.

Dearest YOU,

A nap today will change your life.

The answer to your question will be waiting for you in a dream there.... You'll know it is the answer by the relief you feel upon awakening, and you'll wonder why the answer never occurred to you before.

For now, this answer is a secret. Tuck it away in your heart to steep and incubate and grow and mature. Revisit it often. Replay those feelings of wonder and discovery, those feelings of magic and mystery. And smile with the delight of it.

A very good thing is readying itself to be born. To you.

And in the months ahead ~ while your secret swims in your heart like a minnow ~ imagine walking the pathways, climbing the hills, and opening the doors that will be available to you long after its birth.
